The last post for this course

Actually I don't really know what to write in this last post as I already said what I feel in the previous post.

Again, I felt so much relieved as all the burden of coming out with the research paper had all gone. The opportunity of doing this research paper and the proposal paper taught me to do things systematically. The most difficult part was to come out with the most suitable title especially the proposal paper. But, the title actually guided me to come out with relevant information to be included in the paper.

Overall, beside of writing the research and the proposal papers, I felt that this course had helped me a lot in looking at texts that can be taught in literature classroom. Before this, when it comes to literature, I would just think about all the short stories, drama, novels, and poetry, but then when I was introduced to this course, I got to know that biographies, diaries and all those letters can also be part of literary texts. In one way, not only I became interested in literatute, but I could also then motivate my students to also get interested in literature.

I would say that I did enjoy this whole process of completing this course.

yeah... I've submitted my research paper

At last, after struggling for so many weeks, I finished writing my research paper. All points have been elaborated and the implications of the research on education have been included. I finished up writing them as my essay last weekend with all determination that I just could not sleep if I did not finish typing it. Huh... What a relief!

Yesterday, together with the other group members, we submitted our final outcomes to the supervisor. However, not all of us submitted it yesterday but I just could not wait to get rid of it from my sight, that I just submitted it as soon as I could. =)

Now, I think that this would be my last post of the blog regarding the writing of research paper. After this, I might or might not write about it anymore. For the sake of completing this course, this blog in some way had helped me a lot to reflect on the process of writing both proposal and the research papers. It helped me to get on track in the process of writing as each week I had to make sure that I posted one blog and in order to do so I had to work on my work as well. If not, there would be nothing to write in this blog. Even at one stage, I just could not really think of what more to write and reflect. Sometimes, I needed to crack my brain to write what I was supposed to write.

Finally, I'm just feeling glad that I manage to do my works on time. Now the burden has been shifted to my supervisor to check and mark my work. I hope to get what I am supposed to get for the final outcome of this 'hard' work.

The Final stage of writing

At last my supervisor has returned the first draft of my reserach paper and I can go on with the writing. He approved all the details that I'm going to include in the research paper and asked all of us to hand in the aasignment in Week 12. It means that it is a week earlier than the actual deadline.

However, it does not matter to me as I think that I'll manage to finish it by the end of this week. There are only another two pints that I need to further developed and then I'll be ready to pass up the paper to Dr. Jaya.

After this, I can continue to other assignments that are as important as this research paper. Huh! Thank God that I manage to do all these on time.

Sending the first draft

I did send an e-mail to Shirley Lim asking about why the protagonists in both of her novels prefer to be with men of other races than Chinese, and she replied my e-mail. I was so happy that she actually did notice my e-mail and it really helped me in continue doing my research paper.

I already sent the first draft of my research paper to the supervisor and am still waiting for his feedback. In my first draft, I’ve written the first point together with its explanation. For the other points, I just stated them in without further elaborations as I haven’t really looked through in the texts for the evidences.

At this stage, I’m still in the process of developing the points in the research paper. At the same time, I hoped that Dr. Jaya would approve my first draft so that I won’t have any trouble in finishing my research paper. I also hoped that I could finish this paper fast because the whole process of writing this research paper is very tiring for me.

However, I’m quite grateful that Dr. Jaya did ask to see the draft of my research paper. At least, I was doing my work as if Dr. Jaya did not ask for it, I might resort to last minute work. If that happened, my research paper would not be good.

Stuck in the middle of no where...

It was really a hard work to do this research paper. I've reread the books in which I'm going to work on and still I did not know how to start writing the reserach paper. Luckily, Dr. Jaya has postponed the date to submit the first draft of the research paper and I still have this weekend to do my work.

And it was again lucky for me that some of my other friends had already reviewed the sample research papers. From them I get the rough idea how it is organised and written. I already have the points to be presented in my research paper and now it's the time for me to organised them in the written, elaborated form.

I'm also thinking of contacting the writer of both novels, Shirley Lim, to have her views of why she presented the male characters in her novels in such ways. One striking similarity that I've found in her novels is that, she puts a contrast between a typical Chinese man and a typical American man. How are they different from one another in so many ways especially in their thinking. I found this quite interesting because in both novel the two characters are in some way look similar. If only I get to know why she presented them that way, i would say that it would really help me in presenting my case in the research paper.

However, things need to be done fast as it is already in 8th week and there are some other things that are also as important as this research paper. I really hope that I can meet the dateline and finish up this research paper.
