The Issue of Murtad

It is very surprising that nowadays there are so many Malays, who are mostly born as Muslims have converted to other religions. I feel very sad and this issue should be looked upon to very seriously especially by the authorities.
Yesterday, on 24th of July, I read three articles concerning this issue and these really made me wonders what would really happen to the future of the Islamic fundamental in Malaysia. The numbers of them are increasing day by day and they are truly brave to openly admit of being 'murtad'. This is really an insult to Islam and more, they are supported by the minister in the cabinet. The more surprising fact, the minister is a Muslim.
Furthermore, they are now trying hard to ask for the freedom of practicing their new beliefs. This is definitely a no no situation as in Islamic teaching, murtad is the biggest sin and whoever does so should be killed if they refuse to repent and be Muslims again.
Their association is getting stronger day by day as they are supported by many well-known NGOs and also some important individuals in the cabinet.
Is this a sign that 'kiamat' is getting nearer or is this a sign of how ignorant we are as the Muslims about this threatening and deadly issue?
It's for us to think and ponder. If we admit that we are Muslims, it is a must for us to do something to stop this. We can at least inform to our brothers and sisters about the danger of this phenomenon and stay united. The choice is in our hands.
